The winery
Tenuta Scrafana sits on the hills of Montevarchi, between Chianti and Valdarno, on land farmed since antiquity. Of its 50 hectares, 20 are vineyards; the rest is olive groves, an orchard of old fruit varieties, woodland and watercourses. Soils range from sandy loam to sandy clay, always skeletal, with marked day-night temperature swings. The estate symbol is the prehistoric elephant of Montevarchi. Farming is low-yield and respectful: cover cropping, organic products, hand harvest. Wines take their names from people who marked this land.

Region
Sangiovese finds its greatest expressions across Montalcino, Chianti Classico and Bolgheri — structured, acidic and built for ageing. The most internationally recognised Italian wine region. Strong appellation awareness, broad consumer confidence and reliable demand across all markets.
