The winery
Ancient Etruscan settlement along Ombrone River, became important medieval village and Montalcino outpost defending republican freedom in 16th century. Castle emerged in 13th century with 150 households by 1278. Current manor built within ancient castle entrance utilizing old walls. Camel symbol from 13th-century seal relates to papal influence and crusades. Modern winery almost entirely underground, designed utilizing terrain slope with grass-covered terracing. Two levels: temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. Hand-harvested grapes, gravity-fed without pumps. Ancient tasting cellar under village walls.

100% Vermentino. Hand-harvested last week of August. Gentle pressing, clarification, fermentation in stainless steel at 13-15°C. Bâtonnage on lees for 4-5 months. 7,000 bottles. 13% alcohol. Good intensity on nose, harmonious, round, notable typicity recalling Vermentino's most characteristic notes. Dry, full, enveloping palate with grapefruit and bitter orange hints, good persistence.
