The winery
After five centuries and fifteen generations of growers, Mossi 1558 keeps a living heritage of people, vines and Colli Piacentini flavour. On the hills of Ziano Piacentino it farms native Barbera and Croatina for reds, Ortrugo and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica for whites, and the rare Malvasia Rosa. Since 2014 Marco Profumo has led the estate with the same family passion. Visits include the Museo Contadino; tastings with local DOP foods are by appointment.

Wine details
Gutturnio DOC Frizzante is the classic lively red of the Colli Piacentini: 60% Barbera and 40% Croatina from clay hills at Albareto, 200 m. Harvested in early September, it macerates 4-6 days with pump-overs, ferments at 25-28°C, then takes its sparkle in autoclave. Ruby red with a delicate persistent mousse. Intense, elegant aromas of violet and liquorice; fresh and savoury on the palate. Serve at 12°C with salumi, mixed fried dishes, bean soups and roast or stewed red meats.
